Sankt Georgen aL, officially St. Georgen aL, is a municipality with 3619 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia, Austria.

Geography

Geographical location

Sankt Georgen is located in the northern Klagenfurt basin between Krappfeld and customs field. Main settlement area is formed by the Gurk Valley Launsdorfer. The municipal area extends west of it in the Klagenfurt basin with the aL, east into Brückler mountains and south to the Magdalen mountain.

Neighboring municipalities are, in the north clockwise beginning: Mölbling, Kappel am Krappfeld, Eberstein, Bruckl, Magdalen Mountain, Sankt Veit an der Glan, Mrs. Stone.

History

The history of the area has long been dominated by the Stift St. Georgen, which was founded in 1002-1008 by weighting castle.

The largest town of the municipality is Launsdorf standing on the sandy was to the 18th century Maria to the Church of the Assumption. Was first documented Launsdorf 1103.

Economy and infrastructure
