Sankt Georgen bei Obernberg am Inn

St. Georgen near Upper Mountain at Inn also Sankt Georgen in Upper Berg am Inn, is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 587 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

St. Georgen near Upper Mountain Inn is located at 354 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 6.7 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 5 km. The total area is 18.3 km ². 5.5% of the area is forested, 86.3 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: Argent, on a red, upturned, resist sighted, black reinforced and red tongue dragon that is left diagonally pierced by a black, fallen lance that as patriarch High Cross ends at the top with trefoil ends, three blue, upright and abutting diamonds in the right upper canton. The municipality colors are blue, white and red

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then " Innbaiern " ) to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

In 1991 the community had 578 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 605 inhabitants.
