Sankt Jakob in Haus

St. Jakob in Haus is a municipality with 757 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Kitzbühel in Tyrol, Austria. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Kitzbühel.

Geography

St. Jakob in Haus is the smallest municipality in the district of Kitzbühel and is Pillersetal which branches of Fieberbrunn. The almost 10 km ² large municipality covers next to the small scattered village with the village church several hamlets, of which moss creek and Muehlau have grown into larger settlements. In addition there are numerous isolated farms scattered in location.

History

St. Jakob in Haus was first documented in 1308 with the name " zue sant Jacob hintz house", the area was, however, already settled in the 10th century. The village was part of Hofmark Pillersee and counted among other things to the possessions of the Benedictine monastery Rott, located north of Rosenheim. The Hofmark " Billersee " was. Church History

The parish church of the holy Apostle James the Elder was probably built in 1273 and 1303 mentioned for the first time in a document. Until the 17th century, built a church in the Gothic style.
