Santa María del Tule (short: Tule ) is a small city in the state of Oaxaca and is approximately 13 km from the city of Oaxaca de Juárez on the road to Mitla.

In place of the giant tree " El árbol del Tule " is ( "Tree of Tule "). This copy of the Mexican cypress (Taxodium mucronatum ) is 11.42 meters trunk diameter of the thickest tree in the world. He is also one of the oldest trees in the world (older than 2000 years). The periphery of the tree is about 54 m, the height is about 42 m.
