Santiago Island (Galápagos)

San Salvador ( Holy Savior dt ) or Santiago or James Iceland ( after the Spanish or English name for the apostle James the Greater ) is one of the Galapagos Islands. It is 585 km ². The highest point of the island lies 907 meters above sea level. On and around the island is home to iguanas, sea lions, seals, land and sea turtles, flamingos, dolphins and sharks. From people introduced goats and sheep added the native species to significant damage. Darwin finches and Galápagos hawks can be observed as well as seal colonies. Recently, a lava flow can be seen at the Sullivan Bay.
