Santigold

Santigold ( born September 25, 1976, until February 2009 known as Santogold, actually Santi White ) is an American singer, producer and composer.

Biography

Santi White is originally from Philadelphia, where she attended the " German Town Friends School ". Then she went to the Wesleyan University, where she earned a degree in Music and African American Studies. In the 1990s, she adopted the pseudonym Santogold, the used of a friend nicknames for them. Initially she worked for Epic Records, until they left this position to work on Res ' album How I Do. 2003, her father died of cancer. Then she went to New York and sang at the punk rock band Stiffed.

Their effort is to invent their own genre of music, which is composed of the musical influences of their youth as well as their own sound ideas.

In February 2009 the until then known under the name Santogold artist was defeated in a name dispute and changed its name to Santigold. Since 2011, Santigold has a management contract with the company Roc Nation. Its owner Jay- Z had with Brooklyn Go Hard a chart hit, which is based on Santi Gold's song Shove It.

On their album Master of My Make- Believe ( 2012) Santigold was the song Go! of the rock singer Karen O ( Yeah Yeah Yeahs ) support. She cited visually (Throne Picture Cover) and lyrically ( "all the way to Paris" ) motifs from the album Watch the Throne by Jay- Z and Kanye West.

The title Disparate Youth from the album Master of My Make- Believe 2012 was used by the German mobile operator Vodafone for its TV advertising.
