Anthony Carelli ( born March 14, 1979), better known by his ring name Santino Marella, is a Canadian wrestler of Italian origin. He is currently under contract with WWE.

Career

Background in sports

Carelli was born in Mississauga, Ontario and attended the Philip Pocock Catholic Secondary School in Canada. He worked for several years as a mixed martial arts fighter in Japan, before he then moved in 2005 to the United States to become a wrestler.

In the United States, Carelli coached at Ohio Valley Wrestling, a former building League of World Wrestling Entertainment. There he joined briefly as Johnny Geo Basco.
