Sanxenxo

Sanxenxo ( official name in Galician language, Spanish Sangenjo ) is a Spanish municipality of the comarca of O Salnes in the province of Pontevedra the Galicia region.

Etymology

San Xenxo means Galician San Ginés (Holy Genesius ). San Ginés and Santa Rosalía are the patron saints of the city; the associated fixed days are August 25 and September 4. After the Ley de Normalización Lingüística the Galician Sanxenxo is the only official name of the municipality. The Castilian name " Sangenjo " is thus a translation error; correctly it should read " San Ginés ".
