It covers an area of 12.5 km ² and had 633 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011). The population density is 50.7 inhabitants / km ².

Situated in the extreme south of the Municipality, São Simão is bounded on the south by the municipalities of Marco de Canaveses and baião, on the west by Carvalho de Rei, on the north by Lomba and Jazente, and to the east by Salvador do Monte.
