Two years later, Hewlett -Packard Compaq had been taken over, followed by the second name change. The third name change took place in 2013, after Hasso Plattner, co-founder of SAP, took over the majority shares of the San Jose Sharks. Since then, the arena is named SAP Center at San Jose.

The SAP Center currently is home to the following teams:

  • San Jose Sharks ( NHL Hockey, 1993 )

For events for which no ice is needed, the ice surface can covered with insulation and then the flooring needed to be placed.

In addition, numerous other events in the SAP Center have already taken place, such as the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and various basketball tournaments.
