Sápmi football team

The football team of Lapland represents the Sami people living in the north of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The Football Association of Lapland is neither a member of the world football governing body FIFA nor the European Football Union UEFA. Therefore, the team also does not take part in qualifying matches for World and European Championships.

The football team of Lapland has denied some non- official " matches " since 1985, including one in 1986 against the Olympic team of the GDR. The only games against teams official denied Lapland against Estonia.

Since 2003, the Football Association of Lapland is a member of the NF- Board. Lapland won the Viva World Cup 2006 games against the Occitan national football team and the Monegasque national football team.
