Sar-i Sang

Province

Sar -e -Sang is a village in the district Kuran va Munjan of Badakhshan province in Afghanistan. It is located at an altitude of 2560 meters above sea level and has about 800 inhabitants.

Even in ancient times, this place was known for its large deposits of lapis lazuli ( for about 6000 years ), Lasurit and sodalite gemstone of good quality.

The nearby lapis lazuli deposit Ladjuar Medam For the minerals Afghanite and Lasurit Sar -e -Sang, fine ( Lajur Madan ), also as a type locality.
