Saranyu

Saranyu (Sanskrit, f सरण्यू Saranyu ) or Sanjna is a goddess in Hinduism.

Myth

Saranyu is the daughter of Tvashtri and the wife of the sun god Vivasvat and through this the mother of the twins Yama and Yami and Manu Vaivasvata. Since her husband was unbearable glistening bright, they formed a likeness called Savarna, turned into a mare and fled. Vivasvat in faith Savarna was his wife, begat with this Manu Savarni. As Vivasvat noticed the fraud, he transformed himself into a stallion and followed Saranyu. In horse figure they witnessed the divine twins Ashvins.
