Saša Stanišić

Sasa Stanisic (born 7 March 1978 in Visegrad ) is a native of Bosnia and Herzegovina German-speaking writer.

Life and work

Sasa Stanisic was born in 1978 in Visegrad, a small town in eastern Bosnia, the son of a Bosniakin and a Serb. In 1992, after the occupation Višegrads, he fled with his parents to an uncle in Heidelberg. Stanisic attended the International School of Heidelberg, where his writing talent was encouraged by his German teacher, and moved to the preparatory class at the high school branch. After his graduation in 1997, he studied at the University of Heidelberg German as a foreign language and Slavic.

For his master's thesis Stanisic was awarded in 2004 the Jürgen Fritzenschaft Prize of the University of Heidelberg. In the winter semester 2004/2005 he began to study at the German Literature Institute Leipzig. The following year, the young author was what we play with a story in the basement ... in the competition for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2005. The autobiographical work, which can happen from a child's perspective Revue the war in ex - Yugoslavia, won the Audience Award Kelag in Klagenfurt.

Also, As the soldier was the Gramophone repaired its release in as a radio play by Bayerischer Rundfunk adapted and nominated for the German Audiobook Award in 2007. 2008 Stanišic was awarded the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize and the Prize for Heimito of Doderer Prize for Literature.

2006/2007 was Stanisic the town clerk of Graz. The Schauspielhaus Graz in 2008 brought his novel How the Soldier repairs the Gramophone on stage. His first play, Go West, premiered in March 2008.

2013 was the fourth Stanisic " fire stylus " town clerk Fellowship for children 's and youth literature.

With the novel manuscript Anna in the same year he received the Alfred Döblin Prize and Mrs. Kranz paints a picture of where the Hohenems Literature Prize.

2014 Stanisic was awarded the Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair in the category of Fiction for his second novel Before the festival.
