Satratoxin-H

The Satratoxine are potent mycotoxins ( mold toxins ) that are produced by Stachybotrys chartarum the ascomycete and belong to the group of trichothecenes. The name Satratoxin goes back to the previous fungus Stachybotrys atra name, which is no longer used in the current naming of the fungal species. There are three Satratoxine ( " Satratoxin F ", " Satratoxin G" and " Satratoxin H").

Effect

The inclusion of Satratoxinen may cause systemic poisoning, which can cause irritation of the oral and nasal mucosa, diarrhea, fatigue, chest pain and elevated temperature up to pulmonary hemorrhage. It is possible that only the effect of the toxins can occur hours after ingestion of contaminated food.

Antidote

There are currently no antidote or rapid detection methods for Satratoxine. A treatment is available only by administration of adsorbents such as activated carbon, which bind the toxins in the body and limit their effect.
