Sauerländer Heimatbund

The Sauerland Heritage Association is a home association whose foundation was decided on September 3, 1921 in Wennemen.

Development and organization

He was originally a " student union Sauerland. " This initiative establishing went by Franz Hoffmeister from Ramsbeck from, who soon joined other young Sauerland from the field of youth and heritage protection movement. He was there also a reaction to the oppressive experiences of the founders during the First World War. The federal government possessed with the magazine Trutznachtigall (1919-1927) and Home Guard (1928-1932) has its own periodical. Parts of the organization were quite close to nationalist ideas. With the Heimatbund organizationally connected was about the Sauerland group of artists. The field of activity of the Association comprises on the historic former Electorate of Cologne Sauerland, located in the rural south-east of Westphalia. It now corresponds essentially to the territory of the district of Olpe and Hochsauerlandkreises and the cities Balve and Menden in the Mark Brandenburg circle and Warstein, Ruethen and the municipality of Soest in Soest.
