Saúl Álvarez

Saúl Álvarez ( born July 18, 1990 in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Mexico) is a Mexican professional boxer and former world champion of the WBC and WBA light middleweight. He is the youngest brother of the three professional boxer Ramon, Ricardo and Rigoberto, the latter is the former interim world champion of the WBA light middleweight.

Saúl Álvarez began at the age of 13 years with the boxes and played 20 amateur fights. His greatest success as an amateur was winning the 2005 discharged, Mexican Junior Championships.

His professional career started on 29 October in 2005 with a knockout win against Abraham González. In his third fight he already defeated the subsequent IBF titlist Miguel Vazquez on points and was also the rematch on 28 June 2008 following points to decide for themselves. On August 8, 2009, he became the new Junior World Champion of the WBC welterweight; he defeated while the Russians Marat Chuseew ( 18-4 ) by KO in Round 2 On September 15, 2009, he defended the title by Ko in Round 1 against the Argentines Carlos Herrera ( 21-1 ). Even the NABF title he defended against the eventual U.S. champion Lanardo Tyner ( 21-2 ) and Brian Camechis ( 19-2 ).

In a non-title fight on May 1, 2010 in Las Vegas, he defeated former Junior World Champion of the WBC and later, two-time WBA world title challenger Jose Miguel Cotto (31-1 ) by KO in round 9 and added him as the first premature loss of his career. On 10 July 2010, he won by whacked in round 6 against Luciano Cuello (26-1 ), the silver title of the WBC and defended him against former WBC champion Carlos Baldomir ( 45-12 ), as well as against former IBF world champion Lovemore N'dou ( 48-11 ).

On March 5th 2011, he won the world title of the WBC by a unanimous points victory over European champion Matthew Hatton ( 41-4 ). His first title defense, he played on 18 June of the same year against European champion Ryan Rhodes ( 45-4 ) and won by KO in round 12

On September 17, 2011, he defended his title in Los Angeles by TKO in round 6 against Alfonso Gomez ( 23-4 ). On November 26, he defeated former world champion Kermit Cintron ( 33-4 ) by TKO in round 5 On 5 May 2012, he defeated in Las Vegas former WBA WBC and IBF world champion Shane Mosley ( 46-7 ) by unanimous decision. On September 15, 2012, he punched in another title defense in Las Vegas against José Manuel López López, alias Josesito ( 30-4 ). Alvarez had his opponent in rounds 2, 3 and 4 on the ground and won in the fifth round by TKO

On April 20, 2013, united his WBC championship belt to the WBA championship belt after a unanimous points victory against Austin Trout ( 26-0 ) had succeeded him in San Antonio. In addition, he had the Americans in the seventh round on the ground.

On September 14, 2013 he lost his title by a scant point defeat to Floyd Mayweather junior. In March 2014 he won early against Alfredo Angulo ( 22-3 ).
