Savignano sul Rubicone

Savignano sul Rubicon (until 1933 Savignano di Romagna) is a municipality in the province of Forlì -Cesena in the Italian region Emilia- Romagna, located about 90 km southeast of Bologna and about 30 km southeast of Forlì. Here live 17,637 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) on the surface of 23.2 km ².

The community Savignano sul Rubicon contains the Frazioni Capanni, Fiumicino, and Savignano a Mare.

Savignano sul Rubicon borders the municipalities Gatteo, Longiano, San Mauro Pascoli and Santarcangelo di Romagna.

The community takes its name from the river Rubicon. A combination of natural and human-induced corrections altered the course of the original Rubicon, as it was run during Julius Caesar's historic crossing. For centuries, the exact location of the original river was not known. Since 1991, the Fiumicino, held a river that flows through Savignano sul Rubicon, for the original Rubicon.

The Accademia dei Filopatridi goes to the Accademia degli Incolti back that emerged in the mid-17th century, but was lost in the course of the 18th century. Giovanni Cristofano Amaduzzi († 1792) had donated 4000 books to liven up a new Academy in his hometown, the re- establishment took place, however, until 1801. Reduction and correspondence of the philologist Girolamo Amati owned by the Academy.
