Saxon VIa

As a genus VIa the Royal Saxon State Railways designated different types of express train locomotives, which were originally derived from the Leipzig- Dresden Railway and the Eastern State Railways.

History

From the Leipzig- Dresden Railway 1848-1868 40 locomotives for fast passenger trains on the route between Leipzig and Dresden and from the Eastern State Railways 1861/62 had been built three locomotives for the Dresden- bottom stream. At the Royal. Saxon State Railways have been merged uncoupled locomotives in the genus _ VIa. Instead of _ stood until 1896, the manufacturer's abbreviation ( they accounted for after replacement ), the genus VI included so-called Eilzuglokomotiven and a stand for older types, in this case for the non-coupled machines the wheel arrangement 1 A 1

With the founding of K. Saxon. Sts. EB 1869 initially were only the three Hartmann - Locomotives of the Eastern State Railways in their inventory. From 1871, they were taken as a generic H VI a.

The Leipzig- Dresden Railway had the first eight of their locomotives ( Borsig and Hartmann deliveries of 1848 /49) retired by 1868, and the following four locomotives of the Borsig delivery from 1854 in 1873 /76, B 1 Tender or B 1 tank locomotives rebuilt. These early machines had significantly different dimensions than the later. The 28 remaining, built 1856-1868 by Hartmann and Borsig machines were given for the nationalization of the LDE 1876, the generic name H VIa and VIa B, the tags were called the B II or IIa B T.

The so-called " spinning wheels " talked a surprisingly long time. 1890 was with 21 machines, nearly half of the original stock in operation. In recent years, they mainly ran passenger service. As a last resort the train number 6, earlier GUSTAV HARKORT was retired in 1902.

The track number 2, former Bohlen (formerly ZURICH the LDE) was excreted as penultimate 1900. It was in 1901 back to the state at the time of acquisition by the State Railways and was intended for the Saxon Railway Museum. Around 1925, she was scrapped yet.

Technical Features

The locomotives had an internal sheet frame and up to three machines of the Eastern State Railways a Kirchweger - steam condenser. The slider control was either type Borsig or Stephenson. In addition, the locomotives had different types of boilers. Most locomotives were still delivered without cabs.
