Saxon VIb V

As a genus VIb the Royal Saxon State Railways designated four-coupled Tender locomotives for the fast service. The German Reichsbahn ordered the locomotives from 1925 onwards in the series 34.8.

History

The locomotives of Class VIb V were built from 1889 in 14 specimens of Hartmann for use on high-speed trains. From 1922 they were retired. The Reichsbahn took over a machine and gave her the operation number 34 8011th She was decommissioned in 1925.

Technical Features

The locomotives were the first compound machines in Saxony. The lying behind the barrel axis two -cylinder compound engine worked on the last axis. The locomotives had an internal Allan control. The steam dome was placed in the center of the kettle over the central axis. The chassis had improved Nowotny - barrel axis, although not provided a satisfactory run. The brakes of the type grinders were later converted to Westinghouse brakes.
