SC Tavriya Simferopol

The SK Tawrija Simferopol (Ukrainian: СК " Таврія » Сімферополь, Russian: СК " Таврия » Симферополь; Tawrija "means Tauris ) is a Ukrainian football club from Simferopol, the city on the Crimean peninsula. Tawrija Simferopol is one of the four teams, in addition to Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, who have never been relegated from the Premjer - Liha.

History

Tawrija Simferopol was founded in 1958. In 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the resulting independence of Ukraine, the club was one of the founding members of the Ukrainian Wyschtscha Liha. Right in the first discharge, the team was able to secure the championship. In 2010, the first national cup victory was celebrated, was defeated as Metalurh Donetsk in the Metalist Stadium in the final 3-2 after extra time.

European Cup

In the 1992/93 season Simferopol participated in the UEFA Champions League. In the preliminary round, the team against Shelbourne FC was able to prevail, but then failed in the first round on FC Sion. 2001 and 2008 took part in Simferopol in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, but different in each case in the third round. The team had qualified by winning the Ukrainian goblet for the play- off round of the UEFA Europa League 2010/ 11, where both games against Bayer 04 Leverkusen lost with 0:3 and 1:3.

Contacts with organized crime

According to the local police of the football club is closely tied in with organized crime. This is the band " Baschmaki " ( German: "Shoes "), which is probably involved in 50 murders and abductions. In 2007, the former president of the association, Viktor Karasev, was sentenced to seven years in prison for arson and use of illegal weapons.
