Scandinavian Alternative Music Awards

The Scandinavian Alternative Music Awards ( SAMA ), originally Swedish Electronic Music Awards ( SEMA ) was Sweden's largest music festival for electronic music. The 1998 award to 2007 Music Prize is considered Grammis the Swedish synth music scene.

History

The festival was founded in 1998 and until 2007 was regularly held in Gothenburg. Its creation coincided with the increasing popularity of Swedish synth pop and electro rock bands such as Covenant, Cat Rapes Dog or Saft.Gründer and main responsibility of the festival was the record producer Fredrik Rundqvist. Originally SEMA was intended as a Swedish price of electronic music. In subsequent years, however, it spread all over Scandinavia and opened as a SAMA for other musical styles. The name was changed in 2003. During its 10 -year history, more than 50 winners were awarded in various categories. The tenth and last festival was held in Gothenburg Trädgår'n on 6 April 2007.
