Scharfreiterring (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Scharfreiterring (abbreviation: SR ) is the 4th subway station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn and was opened on 1 March 1972. It is 547 meters from the Long Water North Underground Station and 591 meters from the Long Water Underground Station center. At the railway station towards Fürth includes a parking area to the Metro Station Long Water North and direction of the water long branch to the subway depot. The Scharfreiterring is named after the mountain in the Karwendel area Scharfreiterring. In the original plans, this metro station had the working title Kreuzburger road. Since the Kreuzburger road was abandoned during construction of the subway depot, this name could not be used.

Location

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg long water above ground amid the petrol Bärnreuther Street. The only rising on the eastern platform head leads to a footbridge and from there to the Lina -Ammon - road or for Scharfreiterring. The two elevators connect the platforms also to the footbridge.

Building and Architecture

Construction of the 124 m long station building began in 1967. Both elevators were upgraded in 1987.

The station has because of the depot port on four tracks and two platforms. These were created in 1960's style with unverkleidetem exposed concrete, the platform canopies are supported by nine columns.

Lines

The station is serviced by the U1 line. On both sides of the pedestrian ridge located at the Otto- Bärnreuther - road links to the city bus lines 55, 92 and 93
