Schirnau

The Schirnau (rarely also called Schirnauer Au) is the only outlet of Lake Witten. It runs completely in the municipality of Bünsdorf.
Course
The Schirnau comes from the Wittensee at Bünsdorf ( Rendsburg- Eckernförde ) and ends after 3 km, 8 km west of Rendsburg in the channel.
The first part of the river runs through the village Bünsdorf and contains some bridges. Subsequently, an agricultural area is run and then an uninhabited wetland. The last section before the Good Schirnau is dammed. Before completion of the Kiel Canal, they led below the Guts Schirnau in the Eider, now it opens there in the channel.
Formation
It is believed that the valley of the Schirnau originated in the Weichseleiszeit by erosion of glacial meltwater
