Schizothorax

Schizothorax is a genus of carp fish from Central and South Asia. Their scientific name is synonymous with " gap - chest " from the Greek schizein ( σχίζειν ) " split " thorax ( θώραξ ) " breastplate " (see also the thorax).
Dissemination
Fishes of the genus Schizothorax are common in rivers and lakes of Central Asia, Central Asia and Kazakhstan. Core area is the high mountains of the Himalayas. They are found in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Mongolia and the People's Republic of China. In Nepal species occur in the genus Schizothorax at altitudes of 780 meters to 3,300 meters above sea level.
Features
The fish are characterized by a round in cross-section body and small scales. From their shape they are more like salmon and trout than other carp fishing. In the area of the anal fin, there are a number of larger scales. The pharyngeal teeth are arranged in three rows. The fish have two pairs Bartel. You can find great styles up to 12 kg can be difficult depending on the type 16-70 inches long. The belly bottom is mostly blackish.
Way of life
The spawning season of the animals takes place in the spring, while they lay their sticky eggs on the bottom of rivers. Schizothorax pseudaksaiensis and Schizothorax esocinus are predators, while most species such as the Common Marinka ( S. intermedius ) of small animals such as invertebrates fed. Other species such as the Balkhasch Marinka ( S. argentatus ) herbivor lives.
Benefit
The Marinkas especially in the Lake Balkhash and Issyk -Kul are caught as food fish.
Genetics
In the highlands of Tibet has been demonstrated using molecular markers that occurred in the Miocene tectonic events according to a splitting in the spread of Schizothorax species.
