Schleicher ASG 29

The Schleicher ASG 29 is a single-seat glider the glider manufacturer Alexander Schleicher. It can be used by several outer wing in the FAI 18m class and FAI -15 - m class. The glider - index is in the 18 m version 119 and in the 15 m version 113

History

It was introduced in 2005 as the first self-construction by Michael Greiner of the public.

Construction

The Schleicher ASG 29 was designed for the FAI -18- m- class, ie has a 18 m span, but the wing is divided into four sections and so can be explained by a truncated second pair of outer wings, the span used in the FAI -15 - m reduce class at 15 m.

The wings of the Schleicher ASG 29 can be dismantled for easier transport into four parts. The Schleicher ASG 29 has flaps, according to top deploying airbrakes and water ballast tanks in both wings and the fuselage. At the wingtips, winglets are mounted at 0.5 m height in both versions. The ailerons and spoilers are automatically connected at the mounting of the blade.

The cockpit was developed in close cooperation with the FH Aachen; It was easier to use, but stable carbon fibers adapted to the pilot the best protection in a crash. The security cockpits are built by Schleicher Schleicher ASW since the 19 and have since been further developed.

The transition from the fuselage to the wing was developed according to the latest findings in aerodynamics, as is the tail wheel supported by a T-tail. The tail can be built to focus optimization, an optional 5-liter water tank.

The main wheel is retractable and fitted with a hydraulic disk brake.

The motorized version Schleicher ASG 29 E has a 13.2 kW (18 hp) two-stroke engine with a single lever; However, it is not self- bootable, the engine serves only to ensure a return to the home airfield with decreasing thermal. The engine has no starter, it can only be in flight by taking advantage of the slipstream, the so-called " windmill " effect started.
