Schleicher ASK 23

The Schleicher ASK 23 is a glider in GRP construction. The single-seater training is characterized by good-natured flight characteristics and is therefore regarded as the ideal aircraft for B and C students. It is the last design by Rudolf Kaiser and launched in 1983 for its first flight. It meets the requirements of the FAI Club Class. To 2001 A total of 51 Schleicher ASK 23 and 102 weight-reduced ASK 23B built.

History

After the great success of the training two-seater ASK 21 rose among the customers of the firm Schleicher demand for a single-seat version for student pilots to be retrained after the first solo flights on single-seat gliders. Thus, the ASK 23 is also constructed. The cockpit is similar in basic structure and in the sitting position very ASK 21, and the flight characteristics are similar. Construction

The Schleicher ASK 23 is a built in fiberglass with aircraft in the Club Class in Central ceiling design with 15 m span and without flaps.

In the wings there is a laminar flow with Wortmann profiles of GRP foam sandwich and roving Holmen. The wing has claimed the top deploying airbrakes. Cross and elevator and the airbrakes are driven by bumpers. The aileron and airbrake must be connected manually during installation.

The GRP sandwich hull is manufactured in Tubuskernbauweise with a spacious cockpit security. The cockpit has in-flight adjustable rudder pedals, an adjustable backrest with Fitted Case shield and side armrests. The attenuated elevator is built in T-tail arrangement and has a spring trim.

The chassis consists of a fixed nose wheel, fixed main wheel and a fixed tail wheel under the rudder. ASK 23 is equipped with a mechanical drum brake.
