Gutenberg Castle stands on a projecting rock at the Raabklamm in the community Gutenberg at the Raabklamm in Austria. The castle is now privately owned.

Gutenberg Castle

The castle was founded by Luitold III. von Waldstein, who occupied the castle in 1185. The castle and the rule Gutenberg since 1286 or 1288 in the possession of the noble family room Mountain, whose descendants reside today.

The oldest part of the 12th century was buried is a two-storey bailey in 1490, which was secured by two neck ditches, the outer moat is bridged today, the inner moat was filled up. From 1567, the castle was rebuilt and extended, with which the medieval style with Renaissance elements was mixed. There was an irregular four-storey building complex with nearly pentagonal and also pentagonal courtyard. The Rustikaportal is facing south. Located on the facade a baroque sundial, dated, 1779.

Palace Chapel St.. Pancrazio

The oldest part of the castle forms the south-east corner of the chapel hl. Pancrazio. The chapel, originally built like a tower over three storeys, the upper two floors with galleries, bottom Romanesque barrel vault, was consecrated in 1365. Access is on the first gallery with frescoes, which are cut up by a subsequent collection of a vault. The frescoes from the second half of the 14th century show the hl. Alfa, the hl. James the Elder, the Martyrdom of the Ten Thousand, St. George and the train of St. three kings. The Romanesque window behind the altar now has a modern glazing.

Outbuildings

The farm buildings bear the date 1659 information and 1710.

Street chapels

At the access road is a chapel to 1721st The second chapel is from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. At the entrance are two stone figures, originally Castle Wieden in Kapfenberg, hl. Anna and hl. John of Nepomuk, both by Veit Koniger to 1770.
