Schlossberg von Tettelham

The Schlossberg from Tettelham is a 559 m high hill overlooking the village Tettelham at Otting in the municipality of Waging in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein. The Schlossberg offers mainly to the south and east, wide views. On the towering hill is the castle stables of the castle Obertettelham with remains of walls and a chapel built in 1947.

History

The castle " Obertettelham " was the seat of the Lords of Tettelham which ministry officials were ( vassals ) of Count of Kraiburg and later the Counts of Plain. In 1343 it was acquired by the Archbishop of Salzburg Ortolf of Weißeneck and later the seat of a court. After a fire, the castle was built around 1505 by Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach again. In 1697 he was transferred to Waging the Pfleggericht and left the castle to decay.
