The castle basic trench or moat is a right tributary of the Kahl in the district of Aschaffenburg in Bavaria Spessart.

Course

The castle moat reason originates southeast of the court Hauenstein in a source pond. It flows south-west and picks up another stream, which rises north-west of the farm. On the hill between the two streams, the castle once stood Hauenstein, can be seen from the today only a basement with walls and a barrel vault, and the rest abutting wall coatings. The creek was dammed at the time to a moat, which is why the castle moat reason got its name. Later he reached the dining halls Gesäßer ponds, which are fed by a portion of its water. The castle basic trench crosses under the track Kahlgrundbahn and opens into the Kahl.
