Schmidt Theater

The Schmidt Theater is a private theater on Spielbudenplatz in Hamburg's St. Pauli district. It has two venues, the theater itself Schmidt (423 seats) and a few steps away, " Big House " named Schmidts Tivoli (620 seats). The theater was founded by Corny Littmann.

History

The Schmidt Theater was opened on 8 August 1988. Schmidts Tivoli opened on 1 September 1991 in the former "Zillertal" its doors. For Schmidt Family belonged in the early days of " Mr. Smith" ( Corny Littmann ), Lilo Wanders ( Ernie Reinhardt ) and from 1990 Marlene Jaschke ( Jutta Wübbe )

Especially popular was the midnight show with a surprise program of professional cabaret numbers and laymen performances. The individual numbers rarely lasted longer than a few minutes. This midnight shows were transferred from the NDR from the Schmidt and from 1993 from 1989 from Schmidt, Tivoli and other locations on TV and made the Schmidt Theater known nationwide. There were artists like Rosenstolz, Olivia Jones, Christine light, Andre Eisermann, Georgette Dee, Konrad -heeled, Marianne Rosenberg and Kay Ray. By 1993, the midnight show was sent once a month.

2004 had the old Schmidt Theater will be demolished due to disrepair. In its place, a new building that houses the new Schmidt Theater since August 8, began in 2005. Despite the modern façade of the new theater of plush charm of the old Schmidt Theater was obtained inside.

On the east adjoining property was in 2013 started the construction work for a new building, which also Littmann belongs.
