Scholen

Scholes is a municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Schwaförden, which has its administrative headquarters in Schwaförden. Scholes is composed of three places: Scholes, block angle and Anstedt.

Geography

Geographical Location

Scholes is located south of the nature park Geest approximately midway between Bremen and Osnabrück and about in the middle between the small towns of Lower Saxony Bassum and Sulingen.

History

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the previously independent community Anstedt was incorporated.

The municipal council of Scholes is composed of nine Council women and councilors.

The honorary mayor Karl -Heinz Schwenningen was elected on 9 September 2001.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality Scholes shows the divided shield in red above the Church of Scholes with its characteristic central tower in the lateral view and the bottom in silver three red roses, each with five sepals and golden stamen.

Culture and sights

Structures

  • Church
  • Windmill. There is a gallery - Dutch mill with a height of 21 meters. Your base ( 10 mx 10 m) consists of bricks, while the stack and the hood are covered with wooden shingles. The blind wings have a length of 9.60 m.

Natural Monuments

  • By the Linden Tree in the churchyard there is a court Linde. In it are merged to form one tree seven Linden.

Traffic

Directly by the municipality runs the federal highway 61, which runs from Bassum to Minden.

Education

  • Since 1979, the 2 - to 3 - swift elementary school, in which also the children from Anstedt and new churches are being schooled at its present location. The building dates from 1957, extensions were made in 1990 and 1997.
  • Since 1979, there is in scholas the travelers factory school which truants offers a real chance to make the university degree.
