The Faculty of Engineering Terrassa ( Escola d' Enginyeria de Terrassa, EET ) is a public school located in Terrassa (Barcelona ) Spain and belongs to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ( UPC). The EET offers eight different courses, for which currently 1500 students enrolled. The EET is located in Terrassa Campus of the UPC.

History

The faculty there since August 1901 and since February 1902 we are active in teaching. In the beginning, the faculty was called " Escuela Superior de Industrias de Tarrassa " (Industrial College Terrassa) where the following areas were taught: Engineering, Applied Engineering Sciences and basic training for workers. Originally, the Faculty was founded to meet the needs of the local textile industry in Terrassa. The industry reached its peak of development in the 19th century with the invention of the steam engine. First, the faculty was settled in the Topete road 4 but in 1904 she moved to the Colom street 1 to where it is located today. The Faculty building dates from the era of " Modernisme Catala ". An exhibition presented in this year highlight the applied arts dar. In 1943, the building was owned by the government and kept their teaching function.

The teaching in the field of textile engineering offered since 1906 has always been characteristic of the " Faculty of Engineering Terrassa " and has been extended over time to additional diplomas. Other fields of engineering have also been taught: chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering and electronics.

In 1962, the engineering was separated from the area of ​​higher secondary school education and the teaching career began at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales (Technical School of Industrial Engineering) in Colom street 1 Seit1972 part of the Faculty of Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona, ​​which later on Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya ( UPC) was.

A building from the era of Modernist architecture

The building of the Faculty is one of the first works of Lluís Muncunill and shows the influence of a historical style. The isolated two-storey building with ground floor includes a U-shape in a courtyard. The main hall, which is directly access to the classrooms, the library and of other spaces are supported on steel columns. A portrait of the founder of the Faculty Alfonso Salonsa be found. Noteworthy on the main facade are steps leading to the main entrance and for both side sections.

Location

The EET on Campus Terrassa consists of TR1 ( main building), TR2 (rear building) and TR3 (side building), the main entrance to TR1 can be found in the Colom street 1. The campus of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is located in the center of Terrassa. He has a good connection to the city of Barcelona and its peripheral areas ( regional railways RENFE, FGC and the urban bus network ).
