Schurter

The Schurter Holding AG (own spelling: Schurter ), headquartered in Lucerne is an internationally active Swiss manufacturer of electrical and electronic components and provider of electronic services. The represented in around 60 countries Group employs 1,453 people and generated 2012 sales of about 174 million Swiss francs.

History

The company was founded in 1933 as a partnership of Heinrich Schurter, in the heart of this was the production of fuses and fuse holders. In 1949 Schurter was then converted into a public limited company. As a result Schurter has extended its product range and steadily expanded at home and abroad, both by setting up their own subsidiaries as well as through targeted acquisitions. 1990 all activities were consolidated under the umbrella of Schurter Holding.

The product range today comprises around 25,000 standard solutions in the areas of protection devices, plug and connectors, EMC products, switches and input systems.

Acquisitions

Schurter expanded in the course of history on the one hand by the establishment of new subsidiaries, on the other hand also through acquisitions of existing organizations. CHI LICK Schurter Ltd. in Hong Kong SAR, China in 2009 is the most recent acquisition by Schurter. In 2007, took over the Timonta Schurter AG, a service company for electronic services such as PCB assembly. Two years earlier, the Otto Heil GmbH was acquired, a company in Oberursel, Germany. Next the Timonta AG were taken in Mendrisio and 2001, the Meier Hofer AG in Melligen by Schurter AG in Switzerland in 2003.
