Schwarzenbach in Zweibrücken

The Schwarzenbach, in the headwaters also Burgalb, is a 50 kilometer long orographic left tributary of the Assemblies, to whose catchment area the states of Rhineland -Palatinate and Saarland share. Except for the largest part of the Zweibrücker Westrich it drains with its tributaries the entire western part of the Palatinate Forest and next to volume up ( at the headwaters Wieslauter ) Queich and Speyerbach to the four major drainage systems of this low mountain range.

History and inflows

The Schwarzenbach has two source streams to the south of the hamlet Johanniskreuz west spring from the Palatine main watershed in the central Palatinate Forest. The two sources from which the northern and Burgalbursprung is called and is marked with a stone knights are close to each other below 500 meters above sea level on the west or south side of the 528 meter high stone mountain; they unite after each one kilometers drive to the actual Burgalb how the Schwarzenbach is called on the first 16 miles of its course often.

Immediately after passing the border to the Saarland the Schwarzenbach district of Homburg opens at Einoed from the left in the assemblies that reaches the Saar after another 45 kilometers run. Alluvial sediments

On the floodplain of the Black Bach and his tributaries store a total of approximately 52.7 million tons of sandy- loamy alluvial sediments, resulting from an average soil loss from 9.3 to 15.5 cm in the entire catchment area. The cause of deforestation and historical agriculture will be accepted.

Attractions

All attractions are in Schwarzbach, or on the heights which surround it.

The former sawmill located on Hundsbächel slightly above its confluence with the Schwarzenbach. There is a campground at the dog pond widened Bach is a restaurant. Hiking trails lead through the forest Heltersberger to the eponymous municipality.

From the car park there are summer Delle from career opportunities to the ruin of posts originating from the Roman period Heidelburg, which is about 60 meters higher right above the valley. The most narrow gravel roads or forest paths lead steeply and can, depending on season and traffic levels, have Zuwachsungen.

On the grounds of Heidelburg the stony grave relief of a Saltuarius was excavated, a Roman forestry manager.

The parking in the Schwarzbach can be used as a starting point for hikes to the sometimes bizarrely shaped sandstone rock in the north woods of the Black Bach. These include the Kasimirfels, which is named after Count Palatine Johann Casimir, soul rock to its name, local legends have grown, and the basket maker rock at the same fountain where once Korbmacher watered their wicker prior to braiding.

The 4.5 hectare and up to five meters deep Clausensee whose water quality is considered to be above average, has at its center an island. It has a camping area and a ( unguarded ) beach. On the last weekend in July, a lake festival is organized annually.

The former Wappenschmiede whose iron hammer was driven by Schwarzenbach, located on a bridge over the creek. From here trails lead to the pilgrimage town of Maria Rosenberg and after Clausen.

A portion of the middle Black Bach's located on the German shoe street. This was established in 1977 to remind you that from the beginning of the 19th century the surrounding region Pirmasens was the center of the German shoe industry.

On a Südsporn right above the confluence of Schwarzenbach and Rodalb lie the ruins of the castle stone castle, which was built around the year 1100.

Between the hamlet Biebermühle and Thaleischweiler- frogs the Schwarzbach is spanned by the 700 meter long and 100 meter high Schwarzbach Valley, the longest bridge structure, highway 62

In the Auwiesen of Rieschweiler -Mühlbach at the bottom Schwarzenbach White Storks have in the second half of the 1990s reintroduced. For some years was installed in the vicinity of a nest at the Mühlbach a webcam Palatine stork action.

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

Whereas in the past the forestry and later the shoe industry dominant economic sectors in the area of the Black Bach, so now serves more and more tourism as a source of income. In particular, the area of the middle Black Bach on the 25 kilometers between the mouth of the run Hundsbächels and the local community Dellfeld is marketed under the name Schwarzbach.

Traffic

With the exception of the first nearly ten kilometers of the Schwarzenbach is accompanied by public roads. 2.5 km north of Rieschweiler -Mühlbach is located on the Sickinger height of the small airfield Pott bed height. It is approved for airplanes, helicopters and balloons to ten tons and is served by three air sports clubs.
