Schwarzer See (Schlemmin)

The Black Lake at Schlemmin lies west of Schlemmin (municipality Bernitt ) in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern in Biitzow. It is part of the nature reserve Hohe Burg and Black Lake. The 110 -acre nature reserve is located in the glacial moraine landscape. The lake is one to two meters deep, 2.5 acres in size and 108 m above sea level. NHN and the highest lake in Mecklenburg. The lake is completely surrounded by beech woods. In 15 acres of marsh sedimentation of the lake, there are rare and endangered plant species such as Sundew and Schlangenbärlapp. In addition, the site provides habitat for bog frogs, grass snakes, forest lizards, woodpeckers, tree creeper, red-breasted flycatcher, badgers and many other species.
