Åšcinawica

Ścinawica [ ɕʨina'v iʦa ʲ ] ( German Steinwitz ) is a village in the powiat Kłodzki in the Province of Lower Silesia in Poland. It belongs to the rural community Kłodzko ( Glatz ).

Geography

Ścinawica four kilometers north of Kłodzko at the confluence of the stones in the Glatzer Neisse. Neighboring towns are Młynów and Podtynie in the northeast, Ławica in the east, Goszyce ( Hassitz ) in the southeast, Ustronie ( Halbendorf ) in the south, southwest and Bierkowice Gołogłowy in the northwest.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1330 as Stynewicz documented. For the year 1361 the spelling of stones wit and 1378 the spelling Stynowicz is occupied. It belonged to the Bohemian Glatzer country that was raised in 1459 by King George of Podiebrad the County of Glatz. Zuammen with this it came after the Silesian Wars with the Peace of Hubertusburg 1763 to Prussia. After the reorganization of Prussia Steinwitz belonged to the province of Silesia in 1815 and was from 1816 to 1945 the county Glatz incorporated, with which it was connected until 1945. 1874 Steinwitz was added to the District Koritau. In 1926 it took integration of the rural community Steinwitz in the rural community Wiesau. 1939 counted 440 inhabitants.

As a result of World War II Steinwitz fell in 1945 as almost all of Silesia to Poland and was renamed Ścinawica. The German population was, if they had not fled earlier, in 1946 sold. The new inhabitants were partly displaced persons from eastern Poland. 1975-1998 belonged to Ścinawica Voivodeship Wałbrzych.

Ścinawica is predominantly agricultural. There is some retail as well as remnants of the formerly distinct paper industry, which was located a few kilometers away in Młynów ( Mühldorf ).
