Scitopia

Scitopia (from Latin scientia "knowledge" and gr τόπος tópos "place" them - topia as an " ideal place ") was a free meta-search engine for the specialist databases of 15 leading U.S., natural sciences and engineering professional societies. The website was born on June 3, 2007 released at the annual conference of the Special Libraries Association (SLA ) on the Internet. The common data set included more than 3 million peer -reviewed technical articles, conference reports and patent information, and handed back as far 1884. The aim of the project was by Barbara Lange of the IEEE not just another search portal to create, but a platform that can be found on the frequently cited work with great simplicity, unencumbered by the noise of the internet. On 17 October 2007, the site ended her beta.

Search

The search continued in real time (no cache) and so also provided latest research results. It was, as with the Internet portal of the Office of Scientific and Technical Information ( OSTI ) Science.gov, operated by Deep Web Technologies. The search results are listed by relevance with title, author and the literature data. If a title is selected, the users came directly to the digital library of the provider.
