Scott Beal

Scott Rathbone Beal ( born April 14, 1890 in Quinnesec, Michigan, USA; † 10 July 1973 in Hollywood, California ) was an American assistant director.

Biography

Scott R. Beal was born as the son of director Frank Beal and actress Louise Lester in the village Quinnesec. The professions of his parents suggested that he worked well in show business, so he tried his first as an actor in several small stages. But soon he moved to California for the movie business.

Here he found, in addition to some roles, his field of activity behind the camera. He directed, but was primarily an assistant director. This subject he took most of his career. In this role he was nominated twice for an Academy Award in the category Best former assistant. In 1934, he won the Oscar nominees with six, all winners were not honored for a specific movie. In 1935 it remained in the nomination, this time for the film Imitation of Life.

Scott R. Beal died on July 10, 1973 in Hollywood.
