Scott Henderson

Scott Henderson (born 1954 in West Palm Beach ) is an American rock and fusion guitarist. He became known as co-founder of the jazz - rock band Tribal Tech and for his solo projects.

Biography

Henderson grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he played his first gigs in clubs. His musical influences were, among others, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. After he had completed his musical studies at Florida Atlantic University, Henderson moved in 1980 to Los Angeles, where he attended the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT). Later he became a lecturer at the Academy itself for guitar. In 1984 he founded together with the bassist Gary Willis, the band Tribal Tech. In 1985, he was with Chick Corea Electric Band on tour from 1987 to 1989, he worked with Joe Zawinul Syndicate together to then fully concentrate on Tribal Tech. Since 1994, he has released four solo albums, including Dog Party (1994 ), Goals Down House (1997), Well To The Bone (2002) and Live! (2005), all together with Tribal Tech drummer Kirk Covington. On Goals Down House and Well To The Bone, the soul singer Thelma Houston is heard.

Style

Henderson's musical style is somewhere between blues, jazz and rock. While the music with Tribal Tech rather goes towards fusion, his solo projects are all influenced by the character of the blues, even if always some jazzy passages are to be found. Henderson always puts in his music great importance to the rhythm.
