Scottish Church College

The Scottish Church College in Kolkata, founded in 1830, is the oldest institution of higher education supported by the Church in India. In cooperation with the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and the University of Kolkata, it awards diplomas and organized post- graduate studies.

It is famous for its beautiful campus, the intellectual environment and the Palladian architecture. The students and alumni call themselves Caledonians. The motto of the university is: Nec Tamen Consumebatur, which means " burning but not consumed ."
