Sculptor squirrel

The Borneo dwarf squirrel ( Glyphotes simus ) is an endemic squirrel the island of Borneo. It inhabits the Malay island part at altitudes 600-1700 m.

With a body length of 12 cm and a tail length of 10 cm, there is a small croissant, but not as tiny as the Bornean small croissants. The coat color is gray-brown on the upper side and lower side yellowish white.

Some zoologists see the Borneo - dwarf squirrel as a member of the genus of the Real nice croissant. The enlarged incisors justify but in the eyes of others, the position in a separate genus Glyphotes. A encountered in older literature second species of the genus, Glyphotes canalvus, is now viewed as a variant of the Borneo - tailed squirrel ( Callosciurus orestes ).
