Scupper

A scupper is an unlocked, or secured by a check valve drain opening in the bulwarks of ships is discharged into the water again by the rain water or Come spray. The bulwark to protect the ship and crew in front of green water, the relatively small amount, which still reaches the deck is drained by scuppers. Small boats have scuppers instead of either an open railing or bailers.
