The Sea Cloud II is a built as a cruise ship Bark of the Hamburg Sea Cloud Cruises GmbH. The ship luxury driving under the Maltese flag. The Roman Two points to the second ship of the company. It is neither a sister ship or the successor of the Sea Cloud.
History
Through the success of the first ship of the company, the Sea Cloud, but also for economic reasons, it was decided another sailing ship to put into operation.
The Sea Cloud II is opposite the Sea Cloud a redesign. The contract was awarded to the Asturian shipyard Astilleros Gondan SA awarded. There, the keel laying took place on 24 June 1998.
The rigging or rigging was planned and produced by the company Detlev Löll & Partners in Wolgast. The 23 sails were manufactured in Poland.
The launch took place on 18 March 1999., But it came through the high requirements for interior design to delivery problems and human problems. This led to an approximately one-year delay. The ship was not finished yet passed on 29 December 2000 at Sea Cloud Cruises. On 22 January 2001, the last works were then completed. Was baptized the Sea Cloud II on 6 February 2001 in Las Palmas / Canary Islands. Godmother was Sabine Christiansen.
Description
Hull
The Sea Cloud II has a length (overall ) of almost 106 meters and the maximum width is 16 meters and the depth is given as 5.70 meters. The hull is built of steel and measured with 3849 GT. It is divided into eight Scots. Three decks are continuous. Furthermore, three anchor with a weight of 2280 kg available.
Sail
The Sea Cloud II is a square-rigged ship with the foremast, mainmast, and mizzen mast. The main mast has a height of 57 meters above the deck. The 23 sails have an area of approximately 3,000 square meters. It is traditionally sailed by hand, as for example on the sail training ships is also common.
Machinery
The main engine consists of two diesel four-stroke engines from Krupp Mak Maschinenbau GmbH, each with 1,240 kW power at 900 revolutions / minute. About the gear pitch propeller is driven. Thus, the Sea Cloud II reaches a top speed of about 13 knots. Furthermore, it is still a thruster available.
Three main generators with a total of 1,653 kVA and an emergency generator with 187 kVA generating the on-board voltage of 380 /220 V AC at 50 Hz
Decks
The ship has five decks. The bridge deck is used behind the superstructure as a sun deck. Underneath is the main deck, here called " Lido Deck". There is a bar, lounge, Owner's Suites and the library.
Aboard the Sea Cloud II there is no pool. Instead, there is a fold-out platform with which water is made possible in the sea.
On the Promenade Deck, the first lower deck, reception, restaurant, boutique, and the junior suites are housed. Outside the windows of the suites leads past an outdoor gear, there are no balconies available. Outwardly, it is through the long " cut out" in the hull visible. The cabin deck is the second lower deck. As the name suggests, it contains the cabins, but also a fitness room, sauna and a room for medical care. On the lowest deck cabins are arranged for the ship staff, kitchen and other service facilities. A freight elevator connects the decks.
Cabins and Suites
In the cabins and suites maximum of 96 passengers can be accommodated. The rooms of the Sea Cloud II are all air conditioned. In the cabins and suites, the temperature can be regulated.
There are 27 outside cabins with portholes. By price category, the room sizes of 12 to 20 square meters are staggered. They are always equipped with two beds, including TV, safe, shower, toilet and marble vanities with gold-plated fittings. In the three cabins on the lowest category bunk beds are to be found.
The 18 " Junior Suites " have an area of 23 square meters and are equipped with large windows. There is also a luxurious furniture and room decoration. The bathrooms are slightly larger than in the cabins and have a bath.
The two so-called " Owner's Suites " differ from the junior suites by the room size of 27 square meters, the extensive furniture (among four poster bed) and a much larger bathroom with tub and separate shower.
Shipping routes
The Sea Cloud II is used predominantly in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. The Atlantic crossings are also marketed as travel.
