Seabird (band)

Seabird is an Christian alternative rock band from Independence, Kentucky.

History

The band was formed by making music together by Aaron Morgan, Micah Landers, and Aaron Hunt in 2004. The band soon overtook accordion player David Smith on board. After almost a year Micah Landers and David Smith left the band already again, to pursue other interests. Soon after, Chris Kubik had joined the band to take over Landers place as bassist Morgan began to play instead of the lost Akkordenons on two keyboards. After Morgan's brother Ryan joined as guitarist of the band, she recorded her debut EP, Spread Your Broken Wings and Try, on the premises of one of the band members.

This EP was recommended and EMI for a personal and musical imagination, the band signed a recording contract there in 2005. Just one year later, the band moved on to Credential However, by EMI Records. From 2006 - 2007 they recorded song material for a first studio album and released a second EP entitled "Let Me Go On " in mid-December 2007 This second EP should as a taster for their future studio album, 'Til We See the Shore, the most. June 24 was released in 2008. Their second album, Rocks into Rivers appeared on December 15, 2009. After a long pause followed on July 16, 2013 their third album, Troubled Days.

Stylistically, the band belongs to the realm of alternative rock. Similar to The Fray is the piano formative instrument, musical similarities are found also to bands like Coldplay, Blur or Counting Crows. On Rocks into Rivers You can hear also bonds to the former band Supertramp, but their songs sound compared to these much rockier. Again, a significant development was the band Troubled Days. The guitars, reminiscent of bands like Franz Ferdinand, increasingly, confront the piano a little more in the foreground, the songwriting is still more mature, adult texts.
