Seán Haughey

Seán Haughey (Irish Seán Ó hEochaidh, born November 8, 1961 in Dublin) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.

Haughey was born in 1961 as son of Charles and Maureen Haughey, the eldest daughter of Seán Lemass. He attended St. Paul 's College, Raheny, and Trinity College in Dublin.

From 1985 to 2003 Haughey was a member of the City Council of Dublin ( Dublin City Council ). During this period he held from 1989 to 1990, the Office of the Mayor of (Lord Mayor of Dublin). In addition, Haughey is also active in national politics, it was from 1987 to 1992 in the Seanad Éireann senator. In 1992 he was elected for the constituency of Dublin North Central in the Dáil Éireann and thus moved by the upper house in the lower house of the Irish Parliament. There, since 2006 he is Minister of State in the Ministry of Education.

Haughey is married and has four children, three sons and a daughter.
