Secretary of State (United Kingdom)
The Secretary of State in the United Kingdom is a cabinet minister in the British government. The term Under- Secretary of State is for a position that would be comparable to a state secretary in the German-speaking countries, are used.
Was introduced, the title of Elizabeth I (1533-1603) for the two state officials who took care of the royal correspondent. With its assumption of office in 1558, she made William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley for their personal secretary. He was the first Secretary of State of England and became the closest confidant of the queen. He held the office until 1572.
