La Section d'Or (French for, golden mean ') is a cubist exhibition community. It is synonymous with the Puteaux group. It began with an exhibition at the Galerie La Boétie, Paris, in 1912, which was accompanied by the publication of Jean Metzinger Cubisme and Albert Gleizes. Among other things, there Duchamp's painting Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2 issued was coming down. 1920 and 1925 was followed by other exhibitions.

The name of the association was based on the first time translated from Joséphin Péladan into French and published in Paris in 1910 illustrated by Leonardo Traité de la peinture, which had great influence on the Puteaux Group. Jacques Villon himself known in this time as " ardent admirer of Leonardo ".
