Sécure River

The Río Secure ( also Sécure or Secure ) is a river in the lowlands of the South American landlocked country like Bolivia.

Course

The Río Secure has its origin at the foot of the eastern Andean chain of the Serranía de Mosetenes at the confluence of the Río Cascarrillas and Río Nutusama at an altitude of 310 m in the department of Beni. From this point the Rio Secure flows on the first 60 km to the southeast along strike of the Serranía de Mosetenes to the confluence of the Río Iruplumo and then turns northeast. Just before its mouth, the river leaves the province Moxos and enters the province Marbán. After a total of 380 kilometers of the river flows at an altitude of 165 m in the Río Isiboro. The following 105 km long river section of the Río Secure and Río Isiboro to the mouth of the Río Mamoré is usually attributed to the Isiboro, on some maps, however, takes this section, the term " Río Secure" or even " Río Isiboro / Secure". Therefore, the total length of the Río Secure is often expressed with just under 500 kilometers.

Nature reserve

The Río Secure along with the Río Nutusama represents the northern border of the nature reserve TIPNIS, between the mountains of the Serrania de Mosetenes in the west and the estuary of the Río Sécure in the Isiboro in the Northeast.

Bifurcation

About a bifurcation of the Río Secure is additionally connected with the Río Tijamuchi, a left tributary of the Río Mamoré, the downstream as the Río Isiboro leads further into the Mamoré.
