Security question

A security question is an authentication method that is often used as an additional layer of security as well as to recover forgotten passwords. It is a common secret.

A typical security question, for example: " What is your mother 's maiden name? "

There is criticism that the queried facts in security issues are usually open to the public and therefore can be more easily found by hackers as passwords. Some users are aware of this and invent deliberately wrong answers, which they then often forgotten and thus introduce the concept of security question to absurdity.
